By placing an order you will be deemed to have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and Conditions. Placing an Order/Contract to Purchase

By placing an order on this website, www.thedisoverystore.co.uk, you are making an offer to purchase goods, please check your order prior to completing the checkout process. Upon receipt of your order we will email you an order confirmation including details of the products you have ordered. If we are unable to accept your order for any reason we will advise you as soon as possible. We may be unable to accept your order –
        •if we cannot obtain authorisation for your payment.
        •where products are unavailable.
        •where there have been errors in the pricing or description.
        •if you do not meet any of the eligibility criteria as detailed on the website.
Once your order has been processed we will email you a despatch confirmation. Acceptance of your order and the completion of the contract between you and Discovery Online Limited will take place when the goods have been despatched.

Pricing Policy/Availability of Goods

The prices are inclusive of VAT at the appropriate rate where applicable. If your delivery address is outside the UK, there may be import duties and taxes levied when the shipment reaches your country. Any such additional charges must be paid by you. Customs policies and practices vary widely from country to country so we recommend that you contact your local customs office for information on policies in the country relevant to you. We monitor our prices and information carefully; however prices and availability of goods may be subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to withdraw or amend the details and price of a product at any time. We will not be liable to you or any third party due to any changes as noted above whether or not that product has been sold.

Payment

Discovery Online Ltd uses a secure payment system operated by Sagepay. Payment can be made using credit or debit cards or via your PayPal account. Payment will be debited and cleared from your account before your order is despatched. You confirm that the payment method, credit, debit card or PayPal account that you use is yours. All credit/debit cardholders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by the card issuer. If the issuer of your payment card refuses to or does not, for any reason, authorise payment to us we will not be liable to you for any delay or non-delivery. If we feel it necessary to carry out additional security checks we may request proof of ID such as a driving licence or utility bill before accepting your order.

FREE Delivery – When your order value is over £25.00
Delivery is expected to be 1-3 Working Days Via Royal Mail 1st Class or Courier depending on the weight and value of your order and the delivery address.
UK Express Delivery – £2.95
Delivery is expected to be 1-3 Working Days Via Royal Mail 1st Class or Courier depending on the weight and value of your order and the delivery address.
Next Day Delivery - £5.95
Next working day (delivery between 07:30 – 17:30) via Courier or Royal Mail Special Delivery depending on the weight and value of your order and the delivery address. All orders placed before 12.00pm with our Next Day Delivery service are dispatched the same day subject to stock availability and mandatory security checks.
Saturday Delivery
If your order is urgent or for a special occasion and you must have it delivered on Saturday we will be happy to provide a quote for you, please contact us.
Europe and Rest of the World Delivery
We are happy to provide a quote for delivery anywhere in the world, the price of delivery depends upon the weight and value of the order and the delivery address so if there is something you simply cannot resist contact us at Delivery@TheDiscoveryStore.co.uk or call us on 0044 1723 617001 and we will be happy to help.
Please Note: International call costs will vary depending on country and service provider. Orders are dispatched by Royal Mail or by Courier. Please note: We aim to despatch all orders received before 12.00 hrs (GMT) on the same day. Orders placed after 12.00 hrs (GMT) will be classed as the following day. For orders received after 12.00 hrs (GMT) on a Friday, the next working day means dispatch on Monday. All orders are subject to stock availability and mandatory security checks. Please, ensure that your specified delivery address is somewhere where we will reliably be able to deliver and, if required, obtain a signature. e.g. Your place of work or a friendly neighbour. Whilst we will make every effort to deliver within the time stated, occasionally due to circumstances outside our control and also during busy and seasonal times of the year your order may be delayed. Please ensure you place your order with enough time to prevent any loss or disappointment resulting from delayed delivery time, as we will not be liable for any loss caused to you by late delivery.

Royal Mail

If no-one is available to accept the delivery and it will not fit through your letterbox a card should be left to advise where the parcel is, it may be left with a neighbour or returned to the depot. The card will give the option to either have the parcel redelivered or advise where it can be collected from. If no action is taken after 18 days the parcel will be returned to us. Whilst Royal Mail usually arrive within 1-3 days, Royal Mail stipulate that only items still not delivered after 15 working days can be officially classified as lost. Please allow 10 working days after the expected arrival date of your order before contacting us. Please enter any additional delivery instructions in the box provided once you click the checkout button. Delivery options by Royal Mail include all UK postcodes in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and mainland Scotland and the Highlands. Scottish Islands may be subject to additional delivery time.

Courier

Our couriers deliver between the hours of 07:30 – 17:30. Deliveries will require a signature, if a signature cannot be obtained they will attempt to deliver the order and obtain a signature from, an alternative address close to the delivery address. If successful they will leave a card giving you the details of the address to which the order has been delivered. If no-one is available to accept the delivery either to the delivery or, a nearby address the Courier will attempt to deliver again the next day. Delivery options by Courier include all Mainland UK postcodes in England, Wales, and mainland Scotland. You can track your order online at www.city-link.co.uk using the tracking number included in your dispatch confirmation email. To report Non Delivery of your order you must notify us in writing within 2 working days from the expected delivery date giving full details of the circumstances. Failure to notify us within the specified time may invalidate your claim.

Channel Islands, Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands

We can dispatch orders to off shore locations and the Highlands using Royal Mail 1st Class Post. Please contact us for a quote.

Order Cancellation/Ownership

You may cancel your order for any reason provided that you notify us in writing (fax or email is acceptable) no longer than 7 working days after the day you receive your order. If your order has been despatched you will be required to return the order to us and you will be responsible for the cost. We suggest that you use a secure delivery method that requires a signature upon receipt and provides you with a proof of posting. Upon receipt of the returned goods a refund, including the original delivery charge, will be credited within 30 days to the facility used to place the order. To cancel your order please contact us. You will become the owner of the goods you have ordered once they have been delivered to you and they will be held at your own risk. You have a statutory duty to take reasonable care of goods whilst held in your possession and until such time as returned goods are received by us. Please ensure that any goods being returned are packaged appropriately. We will not be liable for any loss or destruction of goods, once delivered to you. None of these terms and conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Faulty products

We take care to select and package your goods to ensure they arrive in good condition. If your product arrives in poor condition or is defective in any way please contact us and we will advise the returns procedure. You are responsible for ensuring the product is safely returned to us, we suggest that you use a secure delivery method that requires a signature upon receipt and provides you with a proof of posting. Please forward a copy of the receipt and we will be pleased to refund the cost of postage. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Damaged

Before signing to accept your delivery we strongly recommend that you check your order as you will be signing to confirm all is in good condition. If the goods arrive damaged you must notify us in writing (fax or email is acceptable) within 2 working days giving full details of the circumstances. Failure to notify us within the specified time may invalidate your claim.

How to Return Goods

You may return goods within 30 days and we will replace, exchange or provide a full refund. You are responsible for ensuring the product is safely returned to us, we suggest that you use a secure delivery method that requires a signature upon receipt and provides you with a proof of posting. For all returns, except where the item is faulty, you will be required to arrange and fund the return of the goods to us. In order for us to deal with your return efficiently please enclose your full contact details and advise us whether you require a replacement, refund or an exchange. The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations

In the UK, only about three to five per cent of all household batteries are recycled. Most old batteries end up in landfill, where they can leak harmful chemicals into the soil. You can help tackle this problem by recycling your batteries anywhere you see the Be Positive sign. Under the Waste Battery regulations, The Discovery Store are now offering a take back scheme for all portable waste batteries. You can return your waste batteries to our business premises in person (please do not post), a list of our locations can be found in the Our Shops section of this website. Alternatively, you can choose the most convenient option for disposal using one of the following options:

Most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries, why not form the habit of popping used batteries into your shopping bags ready for your next supermarket run?

Some town halls, libraries or schools may also set up collection points, drop used batteries in when you pop into town.

Several local councils already collect batteries in the doorstep recycling collection, or provide bins at the local waste and recycling centre, check with your local council to find out what battery recycling choices are available in your area.

So do your bit for our world and dispose of your used batteries safely and prevent avoidable landfill!

Terms and Conditions for Competitions

Competitions promoted by The Discovery Store will display details on 'How to Enter' the 'Opening and Closing Date' of the competition and the terms and conditions relevant to that promotion. Standard terms are as follows:

The Company assumes (and you warrant that) that by entering the Competition either you have legal capacity to enter the Competition and agree to the Terms and Conditions (ie that you are of sufficient age and mental capacity and are entitle to be legally bound in contract) or your parents have consented to your entry of the Competition and these Terms and Conditions.

Open to residents of UK only.
Participants must be aged 18 years or over.
Only one entry per valid email address.
Employees, friends and family may enter.
The draw will take place at Head Office (see address details below) by 'promotion date'.
The winner will be the first correct entry drawn at random.
Winner will be notified, using the email address provided, by 5 pm on the date of the draw and the company must be in receipt of the reply within days to successfully claim the prize. Winners may have to provide additional information (including, without limitation, proof of identity). Failure to provide additional information within the required time period or, notification returned as undeliverable will result in disqualification as a winner.
Entrants must supply full details as required and comply with all rules as stated to be a valid participant and be eligible as a prize winner.
Prize(s) will be sent by registered post to the address provided by the winner in the reply email.
Prize(s) must be taken as stated, there is no cash or alternative available.
Prizes unclaimed after 28 days will be deemed to have been forfeited and the Company reserves the right at its discretion to either offer the prize to the next correct entry drawn, or to offer the prize in any future competition.
A list of winners’ names will be available in the store or from Head Office for a minimum period of 3 months after the closing date.
Limitations of Liability. Neither the company or its employees assume any responsibility or liability for:
-Any incorrect or inaccurate entries, or for any faulty or failed electronic data transmissions.
-Any unauthorised access to, or theft, destruction or alteration of information at any point in the operation of this prize draw.
-Communications line failure, regardless of cause, with regard to any equipment, systems, networks, lines, satellites, servers, computers or providers utilised in any aspect of this prize draw.
-Inaccessibility or unavailability of the internet or the website or any combination thereof.
The company reserves the right to refuse fulfilment of the prize if there is any suspicion of fraud.
Conduct of participation. Participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and the decisions of the company which are final in all matters relating to the prize draw.
